Gas inspection? What's that?

ガス会社がいしゃの人ひとが家いえに来きて、ガスをチェックするんですよ.

Gasu gaisha no hito ga ie ni kite, gasu o chekku suru n desu yo.

A person from the gas company comes to your home and checks the gas.

いつですか？

Itsu desu ka?

When is it?

ああ、来週らいしゅうの月曜日げつようびの14時じから15時じの間あいだですね.

Ā, raishū no getsuyōbi no jūyoji kara jūgoji no aida desu ne.

Ah, it's between 14:00 and 15:00 next Monday.

どうすればいいですか？

Dō sureba ii desu ka?

What should I do?

その間あいだは、家いえにいてください.15分ふんぐらいで終おわりますから.

Sono aida wa, ie ni ite kudasai. Jūgofun gurai de owarimasu kara.

Please stay home during that time. It takes about 15 minutes.

あのう、すみません.この封筒ふうとうと手紙てがみ、何なんですか？

Um, excuse me. What are this envelope and letter?

ああ、お祭まつりの寄付きふのお願ねがいですね.

Ā, omatsuri no kifu no onegai desu ne.

Ah, it's a request for a donation for the festival.

きふ？　何なんですか、それ？

Kifu? Nan desu ka, sore?

A donation? What's that?

もうすぐ、夏祭なつまつりがあるんですよ.そのお祭まつりのために、1人ひとり500円えん、お金かねを払はらうんです.

Mōsugu, natsumatsuri ga aru n desu yo. Sono omatsuri no tame ni, hitori gohyaku en, okane o harau n desu.

There's a summer festival coming up soon. For the festival, each person pays 500 yen.

お金かね……、あのう、どうやって払はらいますか？

Okane……, anō, dō yatte haraimasu ka?

Money……, um, how do I pay?

えっと、この封筒ふうとうに500円えん入いれて、ここに名前なまえと住所じゅうしょを書かいて、お祭まつりのとき持もって行いくんです.

Etto, kono fūtō ni gohyaku en irete, koko ni namae to jūsho o kaite, omatsuri no toki motte iku n desu.

Um, you put 500 yen in this envelope, write your name and address here, and bring it to the festival.

へー、そうなんですか.みんな、払はらいますか？

Hē, sō nan desu ka. Minna, haraimasu ka?

Oh, is that so? Does everyone pay?

寄付きふですから、払はらいたい人ひとだけでいいですよ.

Kifu desu kara, haraitai hito dake de ii desu yo.

It's a donation, so only those who want to pay need to.

あのう、土曜日どようびの夜よる、町まちで花火大会はなびたいかいがあると聞ききました.場所ばしょはどこですか？

Anō, doyōbi no yoru, machi de hanabi taikai ga aru to kikimashita. Basho wa doko desu ka?

Um, I heard there's a fireworks show in town on Saturday night. Where is it?

中央海岸ちゅうおうかいがん.ここから歩あるいて15分ふんぐらいだけど、わかる？

Chūō kaigan. Koko kara aruite jūgofun gurai dakedo, wakaru?

Chuo Coast. It's about a 15-minute walk from here — do you know it?

あ、はい.

A, hai.

Ah, yes.

7時しちじに始はじまって、1時間じかんぐらいだと思おもうよ.

Shichiji ni hajimatte, ichijikan gurai da to omou yo.

It starts at 7 and lasts about an hour, I think.

わかりました.雨あめのときは、どうなりますか？

Wakarimashita. Ame no toki wa, dō narimasu ka?

Understood. What happens if it rains?

雨あめが降ふったら、日曜日にちようびにやるよ.日曜日にちようびも雨あめだったら中止ちゅうしだけど.

Ame ga futtara, nichiyōbi ni yaru yo. Nichiyōbi mo ame dattara chūshi dakedo.

If it rains, it'll be held on Sunday. If it rains on Sunday too, it'll be cancelled.

そうですか.

あのう、市役所しやくしょでフリーマーケットがあるそうですね.

Anō, shiyakusho de furīmāketto ga aru sō desu ne.

Um, I heard there's a flea market at the city hall.

ええ.毎月まいつき、第だい2土曜日どようびに、市役所しやくしょの広場ひろばでやってますよ.

Ē. Maitsuki, dai-ni doyōbi ni, shiyakusho no hiroba de yattemasu yo.

Yes. It's held every month on the second Saturday at the plaza at the city hall.

The second Saturday?

月つきの2回目にかいめの土曜日どようび.今月こんげつは14日じゅうよっかでしたから、次つぎは来月らいげつですね.

Tsuki no nikaime no doyōbi. Kongetsu wa jūyokka deshita kara, tsugi wa raigetsu desu ne.

The second Saturday of the month. This month it was the 14th, so the next one is next month.

ああ、来月らいげつの第だい2土曜日どようびですね.あのう、どんなものを売うってますか？

Ā, raigetsu no dai-ni doyōbi desu ne. Anō, donna mono o uttemasu ka?

Ah, the second Saturday of next month, right? Um, what kind of things do they sell?

服ふくが多おおいけど、食器しょっきとか、おもちゃとか、いろいろあると思おもいますよ.

Fuku ga ōi kedo, shokki toka, omocha toka, iroiro aru to omoimasu yo.

Clothes are the most common, but there are tableware, toys, and various other things, I think.

天気てんきが悪わるかったら、どうなりますか？

Tenki ga warukattara, dō narimasu ka?

What happens if the weather is bad?

雨あめが降ふったら、中なかのホールでやります.

Ame ga futtara, naka no hōru de yarimasu.

If it rains, they hold it in the hall inside.

Arigatō gozaimasu. Itte mimasu.

さくら市民しみんセンターからお知らせします.7月しちがつ14日じゅうよっか、日曜日にちようび、さくら市民しみんセンターの「ひかりホール」において、「ピアノの夕ゆうべ山田やまだえみふるさとコンサート」が開催かいさいされます.入場にゅうじょう券けんは、市役所しやくしょ、および、さくら市民しみんセンターで販売はんばい中ちゅうです.皆様みなさまのご来場らいじょうをお待まちしています.

Sakura shimin sentā kara oshirase shimasu. Shichigatsu jūyokka, nichiyōbi, Sakura shimin sentā no "Hikari Hōru" ni oite, "Piano no Yūbe Yamada Emi Furusato Konsāto" ga kaisai saremasu. Nyūjōken wa, shiyakusho, oyobi, Sakura shimin sentā de hanbai chū desu. Minasama no gorai jō o omachi shite imasu.

Shiyakusho kara, "Furusato Matsuri" ni tsuite oshirase shimasu. Honjitsu, gogo ichiji kara "Michi no Eki Urara" ni oite, "Furusato Matsuri" ga hirakaremasu. 日本にほんのお祭まつりです.輪わになって、音楽おんがくに合あわせて、みんなで踊おどるんですよ.

Nihon no omatsuri desu. Wa ni natte, ongaku ni awasete, minna de odoru n desu yo.

It's a Japanese festival. Everyone forms a circle and dances together to the music.

ラウラ

ああ、見みたことあります.行いってみたいです.

Ā, mita koto arimasu. Itte mitai desu.

Ah, I've seen it before. I'd like to go.

杉村(すぎむら)

踊おどりたい人ひとは、だれでも参加さんかできますよ.いっしょにどうですか？

Odoritai hito wa, dare demo sanka dekimasu yo. Issho ni dō desu ka?

Anyone who wants to dance can join. How about joining us?

ジーナ

でも、私わたし、一度いちどもやったことないです.

Demo, watashi, ichido mo yatta koto nai desu.

But I've never done it before.

杉村(すぎむら)

簡単かんたんだから、だれでも踊おどれますよ.それに、わからなかったら教おしえるから、だいじょうぶ.

Kantan da kara, dare demo odoremasu yo. Sore ni, wakaranakattara oshieru kara, daijōbu.

It's easy, so anyone can dance. Besides, if you don't understand, I'll teach you, so it's fine.

ジーナ

じゃあ、行いってみます.何なにを着きて行いったらいいですか？

Jā, itte mimasu. Nani o kite ittara ii desu ka?

Then I'll try going. What should I wear?

杉村(すぎむら)

何なんでもいいですよ.あ、でも、娘むすめたちの浴衣ゆかたがあるから、貸かしましょうか？

Nandemo ii desu yo. A, demo, musumetachi no yukata ga aru kara, kashimashō ka?

Anything is fine. Ah, but I have my daughters' yukata, so shall I lend you one?

ラウラ

でも、1人ひとりで着きられますか？

Demo, hitori de kiraremasu ka?

But can I put it on by myself?

私わたしが手伝てつだうから、だいじょうぶ.盆踊ぼんおどりの前まえに、うちで浴衣ゆかたを着きてから行いきましょう.

Watashi ga tetsudau kara, daijōbu. Bon'odori no mae ni, uchi de yukata o kite kara ikimashō.

I'll help you, so it's fine. Before the Bon Odori, let's put on yukata at my house and then go.

ジーナ

何時なんじに行いったらいいですか？

Nanji ni ittara ii desu ka?

What time should I come?

杉村(すぎむら)

じゃあ、うちに5時じに来きて.

Jā, uchi ni goji ni kite.

Then, come to my house at 5.

ラウラ

2人ふたりは、お酒さけ、飲のめますか？

私わたしは少すこしだけ.

Watashi wa sukoshi dake.

じゃあ、盆踊ぼんおどりが終おわったら、いっしょに居酒屋いざかやに行いきましょう.

Jā, bon'odori ga owattara, issho ni izakaya ni ikimashō.

Then, after the Bon Odori is over, let's go to an izakaya together.

ジーナ

いいですね.

Ii desu ne.
