Grammar Rules

Rule 1: ～ですね - Seeking Agreement

Structure: Sentence + ですね

Add ですね to the end of a statement to seek agreement or confirmation, similar to 'isn't it?' or 'right?' in English.

Example

おおきいたてものですね。

Ookii tatemono desu ne.

→ It's a big building, isn't it?

Rule 2: ～くて / ～で - Connecting Adjectives

Structure: Adjective (い→くて) / (な→で)

Use this form to connect two adjectives when describing something. For い-adjectives, change い to くて. For な-adjectives, add で.

Example

おおきくてきれいなたてものです。

Ookikute kirei na tatemono desu.

→ It's a big and clean building.

Rule 3: の - Possessive/Descriptive

Structure: Noun + の + Noun

の connects nouns and can show possession or describe relationships between things.

Example

えきのまえのたてものです。

Eki no mae no tatemono desu.

→ It's the building in front of the station.

Rule 4: が - But

Structure: Sentence + が + Sentence

が is used to connect two contrasting ideas, similar to 'but' in English.

Example

おおきいが、ふるいです。

Ookii ga, furui desu.

→ It's big, but it's old.

Rule 5: で - Location of Action

Structure: Place + で + Verb

で indicates where an action takes place.

Example

こうえんでやすみます。
